He later adopted the English name Steven, a testament to his assimilation into American culture, while maintaining a connection to his Cuban heritage.

Bauer's personal life, much like his acting career, has been marked by a series of high-profile relationships. His romantic journey includes four marriages, each relationship offering a glimpse into the complexities of his life and the challenges of balancing personal fulfillment with the demands of a demanding career.

The most well-known of these unions was his marriage to actress Melanie Griffith. They were married in 1981, and their relationship brought them together on the set of "Shes in the Army Now." The couple welcomed their son, Alexander Griffith Bauer, in August 1985. This period of his life saw him as one of Hollywood's most sought-after men, with a successful career and a family. However, the marriage ended in 1989, with Griffith's struggles with addiction contributing to the difficulties.

In 1989, shortly after his divorce from Griffith, Bauer married Ingrid Anderson. They welcomed a son, Dylan Bauer, in 1990. This marriage, while brief, highlighted Bauer's desire for companionship and the creation of a family. The relationship with Anderson, however, ended in divorce in 1991, just two years after they wed. While the exact reasons for the split are not fully known, the short duration of the marriage highlights the challenges of maintaining long-term relationships in the spotlight.

Following his second divorce, Bauer quickly found love again. He married Christiana Boney in 1992. The marriage to Boney was a step away from the glare of the entertainment industry. The pair remained married for a number of years, however, the absence of children in this union is a notable detail in Bauer's narrative, marking it as different from his previous relationships.

The fourth marriage of Bauer was to a woman whose name has not been widely publicized, they were married in 2003 and divorced in 2012, the reasons for the breakup are not fully available. The lack of information about the spouse underscores the need to respect the privacy of those involved. The trajectory of Melanie Griffith's career is intertwined with Bauer's. The couple fell in love on set before marrying in 1981. Their union, which lasted until 1989, was also a formative period for Griffith, as she found solace and a source of support with Bauer. They welcomed a son, Alexander Griffith Bauer, in August 1985. It was a time when Hollywood's attention was at its zenith and while the marriage ultimately didnt endure, it had a profound impact on both individuals and their families.

The relationship between Bauer and Griffith brought about stability to Griffith, and, at Bauer's encouragement, she began taking acting lessons with Stella Adler. While her career faced temporary setbacks, she found her big comeback and achieved significant success in the late 1980s and 1990s, showcasing her resilience and talent. Griffith's journey, from early roles to her achievements, is a testament to her dedication and ability to navigate the complexities of Hollywood.
